Christmas 2009

I know I am a little late in posting but we had a wonderful Christmas this year. We flew to California and spent a week and a half with my family.

On Friday, I leave for California. Here are a couple reasons I am excited for Christmas this year.

1. I get to see this cutie. I am also excited to see her parents and her grandparents.

2. I get to take this missionary out to dinner. I taught Elder Kevin Bailey on my mission and now he is serving in the Roseville, CA mission.

3. Rachel and Ben are getting married and I get to go to their reception. I babysat Rachel growing up and I can't believe she is getting married in less than a week but I am excited.

4. I get to see old friends.
There are a lot more reasons why I am excited to be in California. But those are my main reasons. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

WICKED-my current obsession

I have recently bought the Wicked Soundtrack and I am loving it!! Who else likes it? If you have never listened to it before, go buy it today! Now I am just working on Ben to let me go see it! :)

Okay for you Wicked fans, fill in the blank from some of my favorite Wicked songs.
1. For you see, my roommate is unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe..._________.
2. I think you're wonderful! And we deserve each other. Don't you see this is our...______.
3. It's not about aptitude, it's the way you're viewed. So it's very shrewd to be very very..._____.
4. So if you care to find me look to the western sky. As someone told me lately: "everyone deserves the chance to fly" And if I'm flying solo at least I'm flying..._______.

An Elder Holland Sighting

On Thanksgiving, Ben and I were shopping at Walmart and when we had walked back to the car afterwards, I realized I had forgotten to buy something and so I told Ben I would go in quickly to buy the item and he could wait in the car. As I was shopping, I noticed an older lady and her grandson (who looked to be about 7 years old) in a very nice dress and suit. They stood out since they looked so nice in Walmart on Thanksgiving but I didn't think too much of it besides that. When I was finished shopping for my last item, I called Ben and asked him to pick me up in front of the Walmart entrance. While I waited for him I noticed a man in his car also in a nice suit with his grandson who was also in a suit. I knew the woman inside Walmart must have been the man's wife. As I looked closer, I noticed the man had a resemblance to Elder Holland. I thought it was funny how close he looked like him and thought I would pull a trick on Ben. When Ben picked me up, I said "Hey look it's Elder Holland." Ben looked at him and got really excited. Ben decided he wanted to say hi to him so he slowly pulled up to the man's car, rolled down his window, and started to wave and said hi. I couldn't believe Ben thought it was really him! Right when he was about to do it, I said quickly, "Just kidding, its not him!" Ben finished his wave and kind of froze in a half smile and drove off a little embarrassed saying "Your right, it wasn't him". A few minutes later, Ben told me he changed his mind and he really thought it was Elder Holland. I told him I knew it wasn't and this continued in a discussion why it might or might not be him. I decided when we got home, I would look up Elder Holland and his wife on Google images and see if it was her and guess what! When I looked her up online, it was the same lady in Walmart! So Ben and I saw Elder Holland at Walmart on Thanksgiving. Ben got to say hi and I lost my chance all because of a little "joke".

*For those of you who don't know who Elder Holland is, please go here for more information.

In other news, the rest of our Thanksgiving was great. We went to Ben's sisters house and had our Thanksgiving meal there. It was very yummy and then we went to the movies with some of his siblings.

Happy Halloween!

Two years ago, Ben and I went to the Haunted Corn Maize and it was so much fun! Last year we really wanted to go again but for some reason it didn't happen. This year I got to go to again with some friends from work. I hope every one had a Happy (and spooky) Halloween!

Here is some more pictures taken on Halloween. We went to Ben's sister's house to pass out candy. She made a spook alley in the front of her house for the kids to walk through before they got candy. She went all out on with the decorations!

I stole these two pictures from Dorey.

If you look closely, the skeleton is named Ben.
Our nephews, Dorin and Aiden. Cute huh?Dorey took us to see some neat houses in the neighborhood. The leg was mechanical and moved up and down.
This is a 50 foot Grim Reaper. It's a little blurry but look for the red face on top.
